The Lincoln Inaugural Train of 1861
and
The Lincoln Funeral Train of 1865

The story of the two most important trains in United States Presidential History.

THE FUNERAL TRAIN MARKER PROJECT

The most note worthy journey of the Lincoln presidency was the funeral train and national  funeral in 1865.  To formally acknowledge the approximately 440 communities along the route, two types of distinct and dedicated historical markers have been created. They focus on details of the train. This is a unique opportunity to recognize a nation's reverence toward the late President Abraham Lincoln on a local basis and to mark the passage of the funeral train. Below are two types of marker. The COMMEMORATIVE SITE MARKER is designed for those who want an economical way to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the passage of the Lincoln Funeral Train. The larger TWO-SIDE CAST FUNERAL TRAIN HISTORY MARKER is designed for those who desire to share a more comprehensive history of the Lincoln Funeral Train with local details. Marker details below.
